2.3 Cause 3: Incompatible device drivers.2.1 Cause 1: Incompatible hardware device configuration.1.2 Symptom 1: “IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL” blue error screen.I'm ready to drive to ASRock HQ and kick somebody square in the nuts. I'm ready to run this machine over and buy a pre built and I think to myself-it's always IRQL, could it actually be something looking for a memory address that doesn't exist? So I put in 4 sticks of RAM and everything is perfect.

The manual says to use A2 and B2, the internet says use A2 and B2 or A1 and B1, it doesn't matter. Unplugging everything, and booting to safe mode would work, usually.Īnd what was the problem? RAM. I got small improvements, it stopped just BSOD while running so that was an improvement.

Of course 90% of these setting changes and driver updates require a restart, and the machine won't restart.

I've spent hours chasing down event IDs and error codes and changing settings and updating drivers. Thirty minute boot time for an 11700K with a 980 Pro SSD is not impressive. Sometimes it boots on the second restart, sometimes you'll be there all day waiting on it to fully boot. I've reinstalled and reset W10 so many times it's not even funny. Well, that's a weekend of my life I'll never get back. Is there a reason to suspect the OEM ethernet port/driver as an issue?

Is it possible for an issue with the front I/O to cause IRQL? Both the ethernet and Zwave adaptor were plugged into the front. It uninstalled recent changes (everything) and I am back at step one. Either one of the connections caused the PC to stop, or it could have just been coincidence, but that's when it gave me the finger. This is easy to workaround with a USB to ethernet adaptor.Įverything was running, but I needed to plug in the Nortek USB Zwave adaptor and plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet jack. The first problem with the reinstall is that the ethernet on the board isn't recognized until the driver is updated, which isn't a huge deal unless you are trying to troubleshoot a driver issue. I reinstalled BlueIris and HomeAssistant and everything was happy?

I had let it update Windows and drivers, but did not do optional driver updates. Reinstalling W10 does fix the problem, maybe. Last night I pulled RAM and reinstalled, trying just 1 stick at a time in different slots and that had no effect. I got the IRQL a couple of weeks ago, but then it restarted correctly. This is going to be my home automation and surveillance PC so it's running BlueIris, Deepstack, and HomeAssistant (thru virtualbox).
